ATR rules out 90-seat decision this year

ATR has ruled out a decision this year on whether to pursue an enlarged, 90-seat version of its regional turboprop family.

The European airframer's main focus in 2011 is certification and delivery of its modernised 72-600 variant, says chief executive Filippo Bagnato, who firmly says "this year we will not be taking a decision" about a larger turboprop. Bagnato says customers would be looking for a......

ATR believes market exists for larger turboprops

ATR is convinced that 30% of the demand for 3,000 turboprops over the next 20 years will be for larger aircraft, but is waiting for a "convergent" solution to extend its family to the 90-seat sector.

Chief executive Filippo Bagnato believes that the technology "bricks" are already in place at engine manufacturers Pratt & Whitney and General Electric to develop a family of powerplants to succeed the......

ATR: 80 new aircraft sold in recovering 2010

European regional turboprop manufacturer ATR today announced it booked orders for 80 new aircraft in 2010, plus options for 33. ATR also generated a turnover of 1.35 US $ billion, almost three times the turnover achieved in 2005.

These results illustrate the first signs of recovery of the aviation industry in 2010. They enable ATR to prepare itself to reach its next significant step of growth from 2012 onwards: yearly deliveries around 70 aircraft and turnover reaching......

ATR prepares for production ramp-up

Anticipating growth in demand for turboprops, ATR is moving to ramp up production rates in 2012 in a bid to deliver as many as 60 aircraft in the year.

Speaking to Flight International on the sidelines of a Toulouse ceremony making ATR's 900th delivery - to Trip Linhas Aereas - chief executive Filippo Bagnato said the Franco-Italian manufacturer will hold 2011 output at about the 50-plus aircraft it expects to deliver this year as it concentrates on introduction of its new -600 series.

"We are not going to grow our delivery rate next year because we will deliver the first new -600 series in the second quarter," Bagnato said. He said output in 2013 "could go even higher" than 60 aircraft. Last year, ATR delivered......
