Boeing 737; Doing nothing no longer an option?

Boeing may almost certainly opt to defer its decision this summer about what, if anything, it will do to the 737 family, however, the fundamental question of what it decides to do will become more pressing as time goes on.

With the 747-8F and 787-8 still draining resources and capital, embarking on a new project (whether that be an update or clean sheet design) will further stretch those resources and with contracts to be renewed next fall with the IAM union, Boeing can ill-afford to get this prized market wrong.
