We had a question on the Airline Biz item about American Airlines donating a McDonnell Douglas MD-80 to Tulsa Tech - when will the new Boeing 737-800s outnumber the old MD-80s?
Rather than answer in the comment section, I thought I'd spell it out here.
The short answer is that we don't know, because it will require American Airlines to continue ordering Boeing 737-800s. It also requires us to know American's schedule for retiring MD-80s, which it hasn't made public.
