A New York bankruptcy court flies into some uncharted territory Monday as it considers what to do when a struggling airline won't cover its plane loans and won't give the aircraft back.

A unit of Mexicana, Mexico's largest airline by revenue, is trying to fend off an elite group of repo men after filing for bankruptcy protection on Aug. 2.
