Qantas may have managed to snare a few earlier than planned 787 deliveries, but they won’t have come cheap. In fact, it makes you wonder whether last summer’s knee-jerk reaction was even worth the hassle.
Cutting orders and deferring others last year now seems to be a little short-sighted for the Australian airline. Qantas had looked early last spring at pushing back deliveries as the market downturn hit legacy airlines far harder than any had expected.
