The 777-300ER is made up of more than three million parts from 500 global suppliers. The aircraft can carry up to 365 passengers flying up to 7,930 nautical miles (14,685 km).

Air France was the launch customer for the 777-300ER in 2004, with the first service flying between Paris and New York. Emirates and Cathay Pacific also have placed large orders for the type.

General Electric is a revenue and risk-sharing partner in the 777-300ER and the smaller, longer-range 777-200LR aircraft, and is the exclusive engine supplier for both variants.
